New Treehouse Roof

We are pleased to let you know that the new roof project at our Treehouse in Costa Rica is now complete. It was decided to replace the old roof with a new heavier gauge steel. Like the previous roof, this one is also green. It has additional overhang in key places for more shade and protection from the sun, without interfering with the spectacular valley, mountain and ocean view. Roof insulation has been added to make the house cooler, and new rain gutters and downspouts added to allow the water to run off better in the Green Season.

Other improvements that have been made in recent history include building a new bodega and laundry facility, a front stone walkway, a nearby carport, a septic system upgrade, fresh teak flooring in the living room, and recent reupholstering of the rattan furniture.

We are indeed fortunate to have had so many of you as guests participating and enjoying this very special forest dwelling as your home base. Thank you kindly for the numerous items generously left behind such as food and wine, spices, variety of kitchen utensils, glasses, quality beach towels, boogie boards, library books, glass vases, exquisite local wooden bowls and trays, a very useful electric inflatable bed, and all the shared photographs and memories of this magical place.

The whole area has somehow managed to maintain its rural charm, laid-back ambiance, and friendly feeling. Much work is being done to protect the environment, nature, and trees. Even with the new and vastly improved paved highway in, the beautiful beaches remain uncrowded, the small quaint restaurants serve excellent food, and the peace and solitude prevails. And thankfully in this area, there remain no high rises, no mega-resorts, no fast food chains, and no traffic.

This past 2010\2011 six month Dry Season (November to May) has continued to provide many fascinating, out-of-the box, and most enjoyable living experiences ever since we acquired this unique, mountainside home six years ago. We appreciate your comments both on our website and in our treehouse guest book and are absolutely delighted to hear that several of you are already planning to return again this coming year.
